Story So Far…
Raised in rural Somerset, I spent most of my childhood gazing at the horizon and wondering what the next one was like. I left the dusty offices of the Western Gazette to study English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Three years of Shakespeare and short story writing later, I came away with the resolution that the United Kingdom wasn’t big enough to quench my wanderlust anymore. I began travelling avidly: across Europe; to Africa; to Russia; to North, Central and South America and, in-between globe-trotting, writing about my travels: freelancing for publications including the Guardian, Moon Guidebooks and Lonely Planet.
What I write…
The common denominators in all my writing are passionate first-hand research, an unbridled sense of adventure and the power to tell things with clarity and originality, from a fresh perspective. This is what makes my writing special and this is why the world’s top travel publishers want me to work with them. That said, the future is a blank page and I am always open to considering new projects, be they books, blogs or articles. Previous research has included touring single malt whisky distilleries and wine tasting across South America – suffice it to say that no request is too bizarre!
